Indian Shores is proud host for the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. This no-profit organization is dedicated to the "rescue, repair, recuperation and potential release" of rehabilitated, sick and injured wild birds that are native to the Gulf coast of Pinellas county. Native birds found on the Gulf coast include cormorants, brown pelicans and white egrets. Bernie Higgins, songwriter of "Key Largo", performed benefits that helped to raise the funds that initially established the sanctuary. This Non-profit organization is operated solely through public contributions. It is open to the public every day and admission is free. A place to learn about the natural wild life birds along the beaches. Unique souvenirs to take home with benefits going to the wild life birds.
The beaches are quaint and the sunsets are fabulous. You can walk to restaurants, shops and accommodations. Many condos are vacation rentals. A great beach getaway. Come enjoy paradise.
Indian Shores is an easy trip from Tampa International Airport or St. Pete/Clearwater Airport and easy access from the Mainland by way of the Park Blvd Bridge or the Indian Rocks Causeway.
Indian Shores is approximately 2.65 miles of re-nourished sandy beaches and is home to about 1500 residents. With the addition of winter residents, the population grows to over 5000. The town host a variety of shops, restaurants, and accommodations include motels, condos, and time-shares.
